2011 Provider Membership Renewal

Thank You for Your Continued Membership!

Your Providers’ Council membership contributes immensely to our ability to represent the critical issues that face our sector. Working with you and your colleagues, our voice within the sector is much stronger.

As the Commonwealth's budget challenges continue into the new year, your involvement is more important than ever.

Here's a recent letter sent to members regarding the importance of continuing to work together in 2011:

Dear Member,

What a year!  In the course of 2010, you and other Providers’ Council members have come together and survived despite the most challenging of times.  And indeed throughout this year our state’s economy had many struggles, and we will only continue to endure if we are unified.

But, thanks to your involvement with the Council, we saved programs for many clients/consumers.  We spoke out with one voice, rallying, placing letters to the editor, making phone calls, tweeting, sending letters and emails, and using every method available to preserve safety net services during the most difficult of times.

Take pride in what your investment and involvement in the Council did to support your agency, your workforce, and your clients/consumers; here is a sample of our achievements together:

  • Put human services at the center of the 2010 election by hosting our first ever human services gubernatorial forum
  • Helped defeat two potentially damaging ballot questions by advocating against cutting revenues for our sector and repeal of the affordable housing law
  • Successfully fought for the reversal of FY ’10 9C budget cuts that impacted PCA services, the homeless, and day hab programs among others
  • Convened the first Suffolk County Human Services Legislative Breakfast and encouraged legislative breakfasts statewide
  • Secured language in the FY ’11 budget to better monitor the implementation of Chapter 257 to advance fair rates for providers
  • Worked with a coalition that passed legislation to help nonprofits save on health insurance
  • Saved members money on benefits by securing a rate hold on Delta Dental renewals as rates industry-wide increased an average of 8%

For the Council to be effective in tackling the budget and passing legislation that benefits you, we need to keep our momentum as we enter 2011.  Would you please complete your membership renewal now to ensure we have the resources needed to keep working on your behalf?

Thank you again for all of your work to help protect our sector and make the most of a very challenging year.  More work lies ahead, but as we’ve proven year after year, when we come together as a sector, we can succeed together.

Be well,
