Here's a recent letter sent to members regarding the importance of working together in 2010:

Dear Member,

As you know, the Commonwealth and our nation are struggling to overcome some of the toughest economic conditions since the Great Depression.  State funds are running short while demand for the vital services you provide continues to increase.

Yet, this year has brought Council members closer than ever, with many new members engaging in our advocacy efforts and our work around collaboration and innovation.

We have made a significant difference as we’ve overcome or mitigated many challenges together – and your support will be doubly critical next year as we face a tough FY `11 budget and other difficulties ahead. Here are just a few of the things that we accomplished together:

  • Working together to push for fair rates and implementation of Chapter 257
  • Supporting fair tax policy
  • Creating the People First! Campaign to protect the state’s most vulnerable residents
  • Partnering with other nonprofits & the business community
  • Advocating to distribute cuts to the state budget fairly
  • Fighting for your funding in the FY `11 budget

This has also been a year of growth and new ideas.  Thought leaders like you made it a priority for us to:

  • Foster collaboration through our Destination-->Innovation seminar; our soon to be released online platform for innovation, social enterprise, & collaboration; support of a new MA chapter of the Social Enterprise Alliance; and new Innovator of the Year award
  • Support our workforce through our newest member benefits: discounted personal home and auto insurance and more accessible trainings through our expanded webinar offerings
  • Tell your stories with our newest report on the human service sector, Profiles in Caring
  • Engage 11,000 users on our online learning management site, Providers’ eAcademy®

Your dues help us to fight to protect human service programs and support your workforce, clients, and mission, while continuing to offer the same great trainings and other programs for all of our members.

Your membership enables us all succeed. Please return the enclosed membership renewal invoice with your dues payment by January 1, 2010. Please take a moment to complete the enclosed Member Benefits Feedback and Find Out How You Can Save forms to make the most of your membership, and return them with your renewal and dues.

We are proud to have you as a member and greatly appreciate your support for the Council and our sector.  Our warmest wishes for the coming holidays and for a happy and healthy 2010.

Best Regards,
